ALZHEIMER SOCIETY OF PETERBOROUGH & AREA PRIVACY POLICY

PURPOSE

Under the Federal Privacy Act, the Alzheimer Society of Peterborough & Area is required to create a Privacy Policy to describe our use and protection of personal information. This would be posted to our website and be made available to all staff. It should cover our collection of personal information through our pledge cards and information forms, as well as govern our relationship with the general public.

POLICY

The Alzheimer Society of Peterborough & Area (ASPA) is committed to protecting your privacy and maintaining the confidentiality of your personal information.  

Personal information may be provided to us through correspondence, donations, pledge cards or other forms of communication. Such information may be recorded for the purpose of processing and receipting a donation, recognizing a contribution, registering your participation in a conference, meeting, support services, volunteering, or other event, or responding to your information requests.

This policy is binding on all personal information that you provide directly to the Alzheimer Society of Peterborough & Area or through generic forms or processes under our auspices.  

Privacy Officer (required by law)

The Alzheimer Society of Peterborough & Area’s Privacy Officer shall be the Fund Development Coordinator. The Privacy Officer is responsible for ensuring that the Privacy Legislation is complied with through the ongoing review of our information systems and procedures.

The Alzheimer Society of Peterborough & Area (ASPA) will not provide or share your Personal Information with third parties unless:

  1. You authorize us to share the information;
  2. Sharing the information is necessary to process a donation, for example to process a credit card transaction; or
  3. We are required by law.

PROCEDURE:

All pledge / donation forms and registration forms shall include reference to our policy “The Alzheimer Society of Peterborough & Area (ASPA) is committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of your personal information. The information you provide us may be used to assist in the proper administration and acknowledgment of your gift, to issue tax receipts, and to fulfill your information requests.
